St Lawrence's Church Denton has been closed since 23rd March and although the Government has said that churches can re-open St Lawrence's PCC is working on complying with the guidelines.
    The PCC do not feel it is advisable to open our church building at this time.
    This will be reviewed again on 30th July.

    CHURCH OPENING UPDATE - 20th June 2020

    We hope this message finds you well despite these difficult circumstances. We all praise the Lord that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, when we can go back to our beautiful Church building to worship Him as family.

    There is a need to comply with the guidelines and health and safety regulations before we can actually open the building.

    The PCCs are assessing the situation on how and when the church will be open. We have to protect one another, it's a mandate that all of us as a Church family feel responsible.

    For the time being the church buildings remain closed, but the church itself is available through Facebook, our websites, on email and on the phone

    We will keep you informed on the progress made by the PCC.

    May the Lord of peace be with you all & Keep you safe

    Rev Jules, Rev Sheila and the PCC

    A statement from Archbishop Justin Welby and Archbishop John Sentamu in response to events in the United States of America

    “Recent events in the United States of America have once again drawn public attention to the ongoing evil of white supremacy. Systemic racism continues to cause incalculable harm across the world. Our hearts weep for the suffering caused – for those who have lost their lives, those who have experienced persecution, those who live in fear. God’s justice and love for all creation demands that this evil is properly confronted and tackled. Let us be clear: racism is an affront to God. It is born out of ignorance, and must be eradicated. We all bear the responsibility and must play our part to eliminate this scourge on humanity.

    “As Dr Martin Luther King Jr said, ‘In a real sense, we are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Therefore, injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

    “We pray that God’s abounding wisdom, compassion and love will guide leaders across the world to forge a better society."

    A special prayer guide has been created by Rev Jules to enable you to follow along with us.

    Our Diocese is part of Thy Kingdom Come movement which is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension (21st May) to Pentecost (31st May 2020) for more people to come to Jesus.

    We would like to invite our local Churches
    (St Lawrence's & St Anne's) to join Thy Kingdom Come chain of prayers along with churches from over 65 different denominations in 178 countries around the world.

    During the 11 days of Thy Kingdom Come, it is hoped that everyone who takes part will:

    1. Deepen their own relationship with Jesus Christ;
    2. Pray for 5 friends or family to come to faith in Jesus;
    3. Pray for the empowerment of the Spirit that we would be effective in our witness

    By doing so, "we all commit to play our part in the renewal of the nations and transformations of Communities"
    (Archbishop Justin Welby).
